Sydney Harbour Week Awards

Eight outstanding recipients were recognised with 'Hornbies' at the Sydney Harbour Week Awards aboard the historic Tall Ship James Craig in early March.

Those to receive the hand-crafted replica of the Hornby lighthouse were John Bennett, John Boyce, Ray Spinks, Tim Swales, the HarbourKeepers, ESORA, City of Sydney and Bob Ross.

Sydney Harbour Week began in 2001 and is held each year in early March. The aim of the Week is 'to inform, educate and engage the community so as to encourage people to care for and share Sydney Harbour'.

NSW Maritime established the Sydney Harbour Week Awards in 2004 as a way of recognising the outstanding contribution individuals, community groups and organisations make to Sydney Harbour.

NSW Maritime works closely with the Sydney Heritage Fleet and Banks Events to make the Awards night a reality. That includes the Heritage Fleet's volunteer wood craftsman Ken Bryant putting in countless hours hand working the replicas of the distinctive red and white Hornby Lighthouse, located at South Head, Sydney Harbour.
